In the 1930s, the travel trailer ruled the highways. This boom time for travel trailers was fueled by the Great Depression, which uprooted Americans and put them on the move; a prediction by Wall Street financial guru Roger Babson that one out of two Americans would be living in a trailer in twenty years; and vastly improved highways. Understandably, travel trailers and travel in general were the subjects of magazine and newspaper articles, movies, and even comic postcards. |
